Camarones en Aguacate

Whenever I go to Cuba de Ayer, I have to have the wondrful shrimp in garlic lemon wine on avocado. I can just eat that every day.

I always get the combinacion as appetizer while having a mojito. Then I eat el steak encebollado. The flan is so delicious too!

My go to meal at Cuba de Ayer is the Picadillo! I love the combo of the raisins and olives, spices with the ground beef. That with mixed rice and beans is just wonderful

Camarones Al Ajillo

This shrimp dish is so good! I get it every time I go. So much sabor! ❤️ Highly recommended. Oh and I have to mention the empanadas. Chef's kiss good! The habanero sauce is just the icing on the cake!

Camarones Al Jillo, Black bean soup, plantains, and mojito. Excellent food and beverages. Great music and atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Love this place!

Vaca Frita

Cuba de Ayer's vaca frita is not merely my go-to dish at Cuba de Ayer, but it is the standard against which I judge all other vaca frita anywhere. And frankly, in the DMV, all of the others come up short. The vaca frita at Cuba de Ayer is perfection itself. Perfectly shredded. Perfectly seasoned. Fried enough to be crunchy in part, but somehow also moist and flavorful. I order it every time I go to Cuba de Ayer and I crave it when I am not there.

The empanadas are addicting. We'll order these when we have people over. The beef and chicken are our favorite. It's a perfect blend of stuffing and slightly sweet crusty shell that makes it so delicious.
